Looking at the store prices of those games, 110 gold coins gets you a $15 game and 80 gold coins a $10 game so clearly in this case they are worth more than the 1 cent each you have suggested by erroneously applying how coins might work for regular Nintendo Switch purchases to these 3DS/Wii U rewards as well.

110 gold coins gets you $1.10 off a digital purchase on the switch. The OP is right.
This $15 game is equivalent to a $1.10 discount to a switch digital purchase.
Yes, it costs more than this to get these coins, but it is still what the coins are worth.

Using 110 coins for a $1.10 discount on a Switch purchase is not what this deal is about is it?? If those 110 gold coins gets you a $15 game as per this offer then in this case they are worth more than 10 times what they would be on a Switch purchase, aren't they? As long as you are interested in the rewards on offer you seemingly get a lot more out of them here, and it is inaccurate to treat them as having the same value on these 3DS/Wii U rewards as they do on a Switch purchase because quite clearly they don't. It's simple math.

Runbow Pocket is great, haven't had a chance to play the others yet. But be aware this game will only work on a "new" 3DS or 2DS models. There is no 3D, but the extra processing power is needed over the base 3DS and 2DS models.

That's the whole point of this deal: you get more for your points than the default way of redeeming them. That's what makes it a deal, rather than any other transaction involving Gold Points.

Listing the normal redemption value of the points helps people to understand what's going on.

Gold Points in fact *do* have a fixed value, related to actual currency, as Nintendo states explicitly on their web page dedicated to Gold Points [nintendo.com].

Your purchases with gold coins go much further when applied to games like these over mere limited discounts on all other eShop purchases. I save my coins strictly for sales like this and the unlikely but possible return of physical rewards similar to what had been offered in Club Nintendo. There have been hints from Nintendo that it could happen.

Simply using gold coins as minimal currency discounts on digital games seems like the least effective use of the gold coin system. But perhaps someone out there sees value in it.

Keep in mind that they expire a year after you earn them.

I agree. Most of the 3ds deals with gold coins are better than what the coins are worth on the switch games.

What did you decide on? I am in a similar boat, deciding between Severed and Noitu...

Haven't choose yet ... probably will just open up a few of my backlogs to cash in some coins and get both I guess?
