The 2GB/16GB model is the one from the free bundle with the S9. The 4GB/32GB model is a $30 up charge direct from Samsung. Right now it's only a $13 up charge at Best Buy. It looks like you can put the S9/S9+ and 4GB/32GB Chromebook in your cart and apply both the bundle deal and the student deals coupon to make the Chromebook free. In other words, the student deals coupon will take off only the $13 remaining balance of the Chromebook price if you're buying the bundle.

these chromebooks really are awful. they seem the only place where the horrific atom derived celerons still live. and those cpu's are awful.

my sister wanted a cheap laptop for flash games, i bought her a acer 15.6", n3060, 2gb ram, model that wal mart had on sale for 149. the price was right, but i was stunned vs my years old toshiba chromebook, just how awful it was. slower than molasses, and literally the screen was so bad i would almost begin to describe it as monochrome. and 1366x turned out worse than i expected as well.

in short it's amazing how bad these low end chromebooks can be.

i found a hp 14 on wm.com that seems much better at only $20 more, n2940 cpu which has the same single core performance but is at least quad core (n3060 is dual core), 4gb ram instead of 2, and a 1080p ips display. a review i found pegged the screen at low brightness of 212 nits (have not received the laptop yet to see for myself) but i literally cant imagine it isn't worlds better than that "monochrome" acer screen.

in short i would buy this one, https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-14-.../762707479 it's likely worlds better. worlds. 1366x on a 11.6 screen sounds like i'd rather gouge my eyes out.

I guess the Samsung has the advantage of 32GB storage vs 16 for that linked WM HP, but it's a Chromebook, dont see why it matters (or pop in a USB stick/SD card/whatever).

My guess is that Samsung at least has a decent screen vs the Acer I mentioned, Samsung usually do that. I have a older cheap Samsung tablet, the screen is nice, the internals are about as fast as maybe a 90's Casio watch, but the screen is solid.

There's the problem, Chromebooks are not ideal for flash games (at least the Facebook game I play). It's seems like a simple thing like a little flash game wouldn't require high specs, but they really do. I love my chromebook, but it is absolutely not for flash games. Don't know what games your sis likes, but here are the rec requirements [helpshift.com] for Zynga games.

Thanks for the info, I think 1080p, faster processor, and the 14" form factor is well worth the extra $20

But I WANT 12in or smaller screen (I do wish it was full HD, but can't expect that from under $300 device). And you can get plenty done. I'm still using my Dell ultrabook 2-in-1 that's under 11in 1080p screen for years.
