These Fire tablets are, meh, as far as a tablet is concerned. However, as a kids tablet, they're pretty awesome, IMHO.

My 8 yr old uses his for YouTube and Roblox and reading his books if he doesn't have a physical copy of them (he's read all the Diary of a Wimpy Kid with at least half the books via his tablet). Great for those. I've side loaded the Google Play Store so he can download other games if he so chooses (Amazon App Store isn't that great).

Personally, I find these tablets a pain to use and they're slow as molasses. But as far as YouTube, Roblox, Kindle, Netflix, and other games, my son is more than happy with his.

What makes these Kid's edition worth it include... a really good rubber case (although you can get similar cheap ones on Amazon)... what really makes it worth it for kids, though, is the limited 2 yr warranty. If you drop it, break it, crack the screen, or what every youngster does to tablets... wreck the freaking charging port and cable... Amazon will replace the tablets after placing a call to them (and having their tech guy attempting to troubleshoot the tablet). Only downside, they'll only replace the tablet max of 2 times per year.

So my take... as a young kid's tablet (like under 10 yrs old) these are great for movies, YouTube, and some games (Fortnite probably won't work too well on this). For older kids, I'd pass. my girls had the regular 8" fire tablet (identical, just without the warranty) when they were 10-12 yrs old and they did not like them and hardly used them. I now use their tablets enabled with the "Show Mode". Instead of trashing them or giving them away, the "Show Mode" gave the tablets new life.

For older kids (mine are 11 & 13), hard to beat iPads. iPhones and iPads are what kids like nowadays. Plus they just work really well... if you can afford them. My 8 yr old, I tried to give him my old iPad mini 2, but he likes the fire tablet... go figure.

And we're on our second replacement Fire tablet... Amazon will send the replacement after they receive the old one (they'll send you a prepaid packing slip via email).
