Nice to see 1080 prices getting closer to $400.

Plan to upgrade the cooler on this, it thermal throttles at stock settings.

Accelero Xtreme IV for air or G12/H50 combo for water both work well.

$450 for this card (even with a Gift Card) isnt that good. Also that it's really $470 BEFORE dealing with the rebate hassle, and it's a solid pass. The only consideration is if you actually WANT a blower style card... but then the Founders Editions (Blower Style) look ALOT nicer in my opinion. For reference, The EVGA FTW DT (DT = stock clocks, not overclocked) was available yesterday at a straight $450 and Looks and Cools WAY better.

Great card and a great price, Just to warn you if you get a product that works your all set. If you have to deal with support to get products RMA'ed their quality control on refurbs they send out sucked. About 3-4 years ago I went through 4 refurb cards before I gave up and switched to an EVGA card, which worked flawlessly. Loved the MSI cyclone while it worked though. Moral of the story MSI makes great cards, but their after purchase RMA quality control sucks. I gave them another shot when I bought my new gaming computer last year, but I hope I never have to test their RMA process ever again!

The PCB on this is close enough to FE that you can easily mount an after market cooler on this and still have your VRM cooled. I had this card for a while, used it with both the G12 + AIO and with a Raijintek Morpheus II.

The stock cooler, as others have pointed out above, is near the bottom of performance among all 1080s (it may even be the worst?), and really should not be used unless you specifically want a blower style card for pushing the hot air out of your case.

Any fan is "enough" since it will just throttle down because of TurboBoost 3.0. But it won't perform particularly well.

Then why even bother with single fan 1080? You buy these to push them to the limits, not browse Slickdeals with them all day.

certain cases especially sff case works better with this blower style. I upgraded the stock card in my Aurora R7 to an EVGA hybrid and found out that overall the blower style is the best. The water cooling cool the GPU better but make the overall case temp higher so the CPU is affected

Don't fall for it! 1180 coming soon! We would have had them by now if NVIDIA hadn't made too many cards for miners and now with a bunch of over stock!

I always stare at my video card when I'm playing fortnite.
