Does 1 slot available mean I can add another 8 GB RAM?

Also, Is it possible to add a SSD along with the HDD or can I upgrade the HDD to a SSD?

Just to be aware...

This comes with a 5400RPM HDD - which for the price isnt that good.

I had the previous model - Q304, i had numerous issues, ended up replacing the HDD with an SSD, and the track-pad had to be replaced within 6 months of owning it.

I have had ASUS in the past and love their products, hopefully they got this model right! Just wanted to make people aware before purchasing

I had the previous model, HDD was upgradeable and so was the RAM,

According to Crucials website this ram is not removable:

i had the previous version too ( bought for $419 on clearance). what a cluster-F of a mess even with the SSD replacement

mine is currently back at the Asus repair center in Texas undergoing yet another repair.

repair 1 - mobo replacement + trackpad replacement
repair 2 - battery replacement
repair 3 - trackpad replacement AGAIN, bottom cover replacement bc tech cracked screw housing,

each time asus wanted me to pay for return shipping to them. i refused, had to fight with them each time, escalate to case manager, and they finally sent me a prepaid label. they even fought me when the battery cells were swelling up so much that it bent the trackpad. they refused to repair the trackpad saying it was physical damage caused by me. i had to send photos to the case manager of the swollen battery cells who overrode the repair center. the repair center sneakily put "battery doesn't charge, replaced battery" as the diagnosis and solution. they did that so then they wouldn't have to replace other parts that broke as a result of the battery swelling. once approved, then it was sent back (repair #3) but again only after i had to fight to get a return label.

while it was a plus that the 304 was full upgradeable (memory and SSD), i got lured in by this and the processor b/c for $419 it was a steal, but never again will i buy an asus product. this experience has been horrendous and is the 2nd bad experience with asus i've had, first one being the asus FX502 gaming laptop last year. multiple repair center repairs, mobo replacement, display replacement, and again asus wanted me to pay to send it back to them each time. lenovo gives you a prepaid return label

we'll see what asus F'd up this time when i get it back (probably in 3 weeks who knows). i have requested a replacement from the case manager but to no avail. if anything is still broken with it when i get it back i'll be filing a citibank extended warranty claim and getting a refund
