Maybe on certain 1st gen models, but Foodsaver has made improvements to their bags over the years and occasionally they slightly change the texture to work better with their own set of patents and newer models, obviously to keep the bag sales in house. For example their "mealsaver" bags have come a long way and are pretty awesome and more reusable now.

I've been able to find super deals on Foodsaver brand rolls and have a couple lifetime supplies. That's why I am wary of getting a newer one as my bags work perfect with the model I have, plus it's more compact than the newer ones.

For everyone looking at this generic one...I don't think it's a good deal.
For those new to this...the price looks good, but there have been tons of base model Foodsavers on here for under $30 (fm2000, awesome model, minimal waste), high-end $250 ones for $50, and the super premium $300-$400 ones for just over $100.
Almost all these deals are direct from FoodSaver.com or Costco or Sams, so you get the backing if there is an issue...just be patient.

The aftermarket bags have worked better than the actual food saver bags for me.

foodsaver or vacuum sealer always leaked for me. never stayed sealed tight. The cost of refill bagged wasn't worth it.

You have to push the top down to start the suction. Im glad I lost this one and upgraded to the food saver one. Its much better/easier to use than the OP.

I've been using this unit for a out a year and have used to seal maybe around 75 bags or so. No complaints so far. Does the job for a fraction of the other units.
