No, 1050ti is probably 20% faster

The i5 1050 ti version is also on sale at Best Buy for 580 before taxes. Might want to look into that before deciding on this one

Yes.The GPU portion of the APU can be used for running less graphically intense apps to save power - you can even choose which apps if you desire. In previous AMD laptops this was called switchable graphics. In fact, that might still be the name of this feature:

How good is the 2500u? Since it's ultra low-performance, I'm guessing it's not as good as say the latest intel 8300h. I can't understand why AMD doesn't make a cpu comparable to the intel 8300h.

No. RX 560X is comparable to 1050 (without the 'ti'), well below the performance of 1050ti and 1060.

Not for gaming, but if you're looking at a quad core without hyperthreading (the $70 cheaper version of this laptop also on sale at Best Buy), then this CPU is most definitely better and will maintain better minimum frame rates in newer titles (much less choppiness).

FWIW, I'm a die-hard AMD fan, but the dell G series w/ 1060s aren't that much more and absolutely destroy this in games Frown

That is a 4c/4t variant vs this Ryzen's 4c/8t, and the difference in new games can be substantial.

As previously mentioned, the dell G-series laptops are the real deal for gamers and are in this same price bracket.

It's on par or better than Intel's 8250U. Correct, it is not as good as the Intel 8300H, but they are two totally different market segments. This is a 15W CPU, the 8300H is a 45W CPU I believe, though it holds its own.

AMD is releasing a 45W CPU class to take on Intel in this range sometime next year.

So this laptop is an interesting setup. If you absolutely want AMD, get this, else the 8300H is better. Or, wait for AMD to release their 45W to compete in this space.

The new Radeon Vega M, which is only in super expensive laptops and NUCs right now...
