For those wondering about the specs...
17.3" 1600 x 900 resolution
8th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-8250U (Quad core, 8 threads) with Intel UHD graphics 620
6.17 lbs. 1" thick

Not bad with an 8th gen Intel. Replacing the main drive with an SSD would make this pretty decent for people with bad eyesight & looking for a semi portable desktop replacement.

That resolution on a 17" is a dealbreaker for me.

I have bad eyesight, but why would it be better? You mean because resolution is pretty low? Can't someone get higher res and just set it lower though?

That crappy resolution makes this an instant pass. Despite the other semi-nice specs.

A lot of old folks have bad eyesight & needs a bigger screen with not necessarily more pixels, that they can't much use & see the difference. Like I pointed out earlier, this is a good deal for those people & looking for a semi portable desperate replacement, it's good for the price if that's what you're looking for. Not for everybody. If it's not for you, move along.

For some reason, some people think that everybody should think or be like themselves. Yeah, you're better alright.

Dumbest post ever. I was asking what made it better for those with bad eyesight, which I already said I have, so makes no sense any of what you just said, turning it into an argument.

I'd say this isn't particularly good for people with bad eyesight, it's dim and has pretty low resolution. I think what the original person was saying is that because the screen is so large, you could scale everything to be bigger, and thus easier on the eyes in some circumstances

The lower resolution is a battery saving strategy... less pixels = less power draw even though it is a larger size screen.

Not saying that makes it great, just explaining the reason.
