Have been looking for an MCE remote, but this one lacks the ability to turn on/off a TV. Many people may not care about that, but there are some MCE remotes that can do it.

There is one original MCE remote that has tv on off capability. It is nearly impossible to find that one.

I just used a universal remote for $4 from microcenter and programmed all the keys

I got this five years ago for about $14 (I think). I usually use a Logitech Harmony as my remote, but that requires a USB receiver for the HTPC. This one worked really well, without any customization required. And when the Logitech's batteries need to be recharged (which is often), I can use this as a backup.

EDITED to add: The mouse function is a nice bonus that most remotes, including the Logitech, don't have. I was surprised by how well it worked.
