iPhone SE (32GB) AT&T Prepaid In-Store $50 (with purchase of $30 credit)

Found the iPhone SE 32GB still available on AT&T Prepaid for $50 with the purchase of at least $30 worth of airtime. The phone does not come included with any account credit (like the $45 account credit that is indicated for an online purchase). Taxes, if applicable, are on the $50.

After initially loading $30 (that is good for 30 days of unlimited talk, text and 1GB data with autopay), you are free to cancel or change to any other plan. Note that the phone is locked to AT&T Prepaid, and can be unlocked after 6 months of service (more info: https://www.att.com/esupport/arti.../KM1262649).

Thanks for sharing.

I didn't look too much into this deal, but based on what you stated, it may be helpful to include in the thread title the information about needing to spend $30+ on the airtime. Also, if this deal is only available in stores, please also note that.

Thank you,
Tofu Vic

Is this a gophone? The gophones can be used on postpaid. It will lock during first day then you call them and tell them you just bought it and need to send your proof of purchase to the gophone solution email, they can give you it as I forget it. I've done this 3 times (mine and my fathers then mine again when I broke it). They never gave me any hassle but YMMV.

If this isn't a gophone disregard everything I said.

It is an in-store only deal, that is why the link is simply to an AT&T store locator. The online price is much higher (around $195 I think).

I have noted that the deal is in-store. Also, the title would be too long if I included everything from the post in the title. I still did indicate the $30 purchase in the very first sentence!

I wasn't too sure about this. According to the store manager I got it from, I should be able to unlock it in 30 days and use it on any network. I doubt that. I have heard so many differing reports online about people's experiences of using GoPhones on postpaid too that I thought it best to simply provide the info that AT&T officially states on their website.

Can I use the $30 airtime on the PAYG plan ($2 per day) and use it once a month then ask for it to be unlocked after 6 months? The conditions just say it needs to be active. I'm happy to wait it out as I would be using a Red Pocket Sim in it most of the time, but it would be great to be able to have an unlocked phone at the end of it. Has anyone done this? Thank you!

I called att store. If you are in CA, you have to pay tax on original price ($350) of the phone

The employee is probably mistaken then, because I specifically asked about this and I was told the tax is only on $50. Bought it in SoCal.

Not exactly, although similar. That was $99 for the phone and came with a $45 account credit. This one is $50 for the phone and comes with no account credit.

AFAIK, you can't do that because the airtime expires in 30 days. The minimum refill to extend it for another 30 days is $10 (which could be used to pay for any five of the days at $2/day). But you'll have to top up with $10 every month.

Thank you - that makes sense. Seemed to easy as I was asking! +rep

Thanks for the clarification. It might be store specific.
