Not gonna buy (since I just bought a 4TB HGST DeskStar NAS), but thanks for the insight. Sounds like a solid drive. 2 year warranty :-/.

Yeah it was hard picking between this and the hgst. Hgst has amazing reliability but they're also know for being loud so I picked this. This is also cheaper

True yeah, they're a bit noisier. I bought my first one ~2 years ago for $135 I think, and had it in my desktop. Just bought the second about a month ago for ~$84! It was down to $100 on Fry's and I used a Google Express coupon which brought the total to around $84. I was stoked. I went from 2x1TB Green in my NAS, to 2x2TB Red, and now 2x 4TB DeskStar NAS. But this is the first time I've paired a ~2 year old drive with a brand new one lol.

Honestly the minimal increase in noise doesn't bother me because the NAS is on the other side of the room and I keep the fan on "high" all the time. Temps are higher, but that's expected with 7,200rpm vs. 5,400rpm.

Best of luck with your storage Smilienod.

Title is wrong, there is no such thing as 7300 RPM drives. There are 5400,7200 and 10,000.

Once you add it to your cart and go to Checkout, that's when you insert the code (EMCPXPR29).
After you do that, you scroll all the way down the page and you see the discounted price (it doesn't show on the first subtotal, only after the Amex ad).

Same here. Deal is likely dead.
