At $580, Acer will give you 1050ti 4g vram with 256GB ssd, which is a bargain for just $80.

Can we add a m.2 ssd?

I think this is the cheapest laptop ever with a 1050. I dont see another 1050 at this price point. If you go up to $650 or above you may find 1050 or 1050Ti (not sure)
1050 will allow you to play lol, dota 2, overwatch or even pubg with appropriate settings(lower)
So mobile gaming is a goal then this one is better than the 8250u deal. A few weeks ago Newegg have Acer for $480 for a 2 hours with 8250U and Mx150. Have not seen that again. THe lowest it ever gone back to is $550

To clarify, the 7300hq does not have hyperthreading. For development an 8250u would be better. This is only good if you want gaming or rendering at this price point, otherwise you might want to go for the 8th gen u series. In all other cases the difference between this and an 8250u is likely negligible and probably more dependent on whether you need the GPU.

they're both quad-core, which is more important than quad + HT, since most laptops have dual cores or dual cores + HT. i'd rather have 4 real cores than 2+2 Big Grin

5400 RPM HDD... *Shudder* Not saying this is a bad deal but please consider something with an SSD if you care at all about everyday performance.

You can swap that out for cheap. The deal is a $500 laptop with dedicated gfx. I think this is the best budget gaming laptop I've ever seen on SD.

the 1050 is decent for casual gaming (source engine games, Fortnite, League of Legends)

Good deal

I wouldn't recommend. I have an aspire from 2013 and it has been overheating for 2 years now. Before this, I was able to play some games, such as dragon ball xenoverse, but now whenever I try to play this game, it overheats and shuts down in minutes.

Now, if you think the solution is cleaning the fan, think again. I did that and it didn't solve shit. The process of cleaning the fan is a farking pain in the ass. You have to remove EVERYTHING. Look at this. You will get 3 years top from this laptop and then it will overheat max.

There reason why these are cheap. Waste of money.
