I do filets for two hours at 131F, pat dry and rest for ten minutes at room temp, then sear on an extremely hot cast iron pan. I'll never go out to a steakhouse again. Salt and pepper (before sous vide) is all you really need, but of course you can add any number of things to suit your taste.

Been using this exact model for a year now with zero complaints. Haven't found a reason to spend more on WiFi or a different brand.

Good deal. However, this is for the 800 watt non-wifi version, in case you were interested.

Spend the extra and get a joule. I have 2 Anovas and 1 joule and I had bought 2 joules. They are much better, much smaller which leaves you more room in your vessel for actual food. Which is food if you are trying to quickly get something up and cooking in a small pot. I don't always want to heat up a large container of water.

Higher wattage with the wifi version. Wifi is a must if you intend to control the unit with your phone while not at home. $70 for the BT version is a very good deal.

Except smaller, what's the other benefits of joule?
Also for heat up a large pot of water, cannot you use hot water to begin with?

The wifi version is great. I've had it for about 1 1/2 years and use it daily.

The wifi is very useful when you want to set the temps or re-adjust the timer from anywhere. I don't think I'd recommend getting the Bluetooth version.

The steak should be done but you may want to brown the break using oven or on the stove top.

Amazon [amazon.com] matches the price and is also 69.99.

You will want to sear the outside. What I do is get an iron skillet with some bacon grease, heat it in the oven to ~450, and then sear both sides.

Heard that the big steakhouses actually use this method but great to hear about real-world success. TU/repped...
