If you are on slickdeals, chances are you're wasting money on shit you don't really need, is mostly just wants, under the justification that the price is lower and you can't "pass this chance".

In reality, you never needed that item in the first place. And if you actually had money in the first place, you wouldn't be here looking for refurbished deals. Slickdeals makes you overspend on stuff you don't need and you justify it because the price is a "deal" too slick to pass up.

This is one great way to stay broke for life, spending on bullshit material things you don't need while slickdeals and the big companies get richer and richer.

Before you call me poor or broke, I have a 2014 car that is paid off and almost 30k in my bank account. I should be out of debt by next year. That's how you get money, by not spending on bullshit you don't really need.

I could buy a maxed macbook pro if I wanted to, but I'm mature enough to resitst this temptation and realize that at the end of the day, it won't really matter when a cheaper laptop can do the same stuff.

so what you are trying to tell me is that I don't need my polk LSIM set? I don't need my projector? I don't need my receiver? i don't need my tv? I don't need to make hundreds of dollars on flipping $10 kindles? don't need thousands of dollars because of churning/sign up bonuses?

if you spend money on what you don't need it's not SDs fault but your irresponsible financial behavior.

p.s. if you think that $1000 I paid for polk LSIM set from here (5k MSRP) will give you more pleasure sitting in your bank account then you are dead wrong (or dead broke), same applies to $414 i paid for HT2050 projector etc.

Saving money is better than leaving your money in the bank or investing it in something that could drop in value?

If I can buy a years worth of TP at a true 20% savings then I earned 20% on my money. I also use SD to buy stuff that is a great deal for a quality product, I picked up a Bosch Hammer drill on closeout from HD. I have used it twice but it did sit for a year before I needed it. If i had gone out and purchased it when I needed it, I would have paid a lot more for it. Friends also borrowed it to demo their bathroom and they said it was a lifesaver. The hammerdrill is buying me a nice steak dinner.

I am not going to brag about how much I make or how many toys I have, but I will say I am very frugal when it comes to spending money and I look for quality on sale vs just a low price.

You should add mm to your deal alert.

Also, Google the word resale. If you buy a product you don't need at a price far below what you can sell it at, you're the opposite of dumb

Amen. It is not the websites fault if someone spends money on stuff they do not need. I would venture to guess most people here are spending on stuff they either need or can afford ranging from food stuffs to cleaning supplies to electronics to clothing. And that is to say nothing of the resellers, but that is besides the point.

Make is too strong a word

Do "hot deals" encourage questionable purchases? Sure they do.

Now the best way to use the site would be to only visit when you identify a need to purchase something. There probably are some folks who do that although I'm not one of them.

I've definitely bought things I wouldn't have purchased otherwise bc it's a slick deal. I'm happy with most of those purchases and the "bad" purchases are primarily in the past bc I've "learned" that another slick deal on the same item is in the future the majority of the time. Many folks "learn" this. Given that I'm happy with the dynamic, your ideas on in essence no joy from these purchases doesn't apply to me.

bulb save money by checking your insurance every 2 years (and not every 20) Thanks Liberty Mutual for reminding me to shop. The $842 increase this year sums it up. Across the board increase for Ohio....whatever

SD is the enemy of minimalists. I should say my inner desire of wanting more is the real enemy.

I do find the deal alerts on SD useful for mid- and long- term items that I will need. For shorter terms, I look them up on ebay, Amazon, or craigslist instead.

I kind of gave up buying some necessities in advance. If I can't or won't use the thing I buy within a year, they are considered as clutter and should either be sold, donated, or thrown out.

Makes sense to me.
I now realize I am fat because the grocery store has so much food in it. Good to know it isn't my fault.

I think OP its how you manage your will power. I have saved tons of money here hell I have even made money thanks to Slickdeals. I think it has to be that you need will power. I wont lie, but when I see a sweet T.V. deal I really want to buy it, but what do I do with my old one now? I don't just throw it away if I could I like to sell it, but you just need will power to control the spending habits and not buy if you don't need.

how you put it is how most people put the blame on everything
some would agree with you, some wouldn't

lots of examples: guns, media, people, etc
