LG GizmoGadget $49.99, GizmoPal2 $29.99 with no contract from Verizon Wireless + Free Shipping

Verizon Wireless currently has LG GizmoGadget for $49.99 and the GizmoPal2 for $29.99 with no contract. The activation fee is $30.00 and the line access fee is $5.00 (If you currently have other Verizon lines), but if you cancel service as soon as you receive the watch, Verizon will typically waive those fees.

Neither of these watches are perfect, but with back-to-school coming up this may be something that fits your needs or would be a great gift.

Got this for my ten year old for the same price with the 25 dollar best buy gift card a couple of weeks ago. I really like it. For 5 bucks a month, it's a great way to get a hold of the kid and find his location.

If you ask, VZW will waive the fee for you at time of purchase. They did this for me over the phone. YMMV

Is there a SIM card that can be swapped out in these?

AFAIK - no.

This is verizon only. The gizopal2 has little use without mobile service. The gizmogadget is a nifty toy - on par with vtech type stuff, even without service.

Why is unlimited data $5/month, but 1GB data is $15/month?

Someone has to count data until you break 1 GB

Any share plan (with other devices on the account) this is $5/mo. If it's on a plan by itself, it's $15/mo for 1gb, or $10 with autopay and paperless billing.

Any way to buy this out right without signing up with them?

Really good deal at this price. Bought my son the GizmoGadget over a year ago for $150 and has been great! If you have young kids who aren't ready for a phone yet this is the way to go. Also has GPS tracking so you know where they are.

The gizmo gadget is not capable of using much data. It can send short audio clips - that's about it. Other than that it is just txt (no MMS) and voice.

I am really happy with mine for what it it, but it's a completely different animal than a smart phone

So to be clear, this can send and receive text messages, and make and receive phone calls? So it's a little phone on the wrist?? If so that's pretty cool and I'm in 4 1.
