Check out Bankrate.com and compare. I've never used Quicken Loans, but I do live in Louisiana, bought a home using a local lender a few years back, then shopped on Bankrate and refinanced because the rate (and APR) was much better.

I used Cardinal Financial to refinance and they are now known as Sebonic. I am currently buying another home and we're using Sebonic for that purchase. The process has been easy and with a really good rate, so maybe give them a look or look at another provider just so you can compare. If you make any sort of request for info though, just know that they will be persistent in following by phone until you tell them not to.

That's all not to say don't use Quicken or anything. I'm just saying you might shop the rate and ask about their various fees, etc. I just used the same parameters for our home purchase on Quicken's site and Bankrate, and I found a rate that was about 40 basis points lower and and the APR is 62.2 basis points lower. The lender I picked (Sebonic) doesn't have the best rate today, but did that day and has a lot of positive user reviews. It's also in the top 3.

I also like Insurance Network of Louisiana if you're looking for homeowners insurance. They did a great job shopping coverage for our family and we realized significant cost savings on our homeowners policy for the new place.

Hope that helps!!!
