To get the max $300 you must trade-in a PS4 Pro.
The link I provided is to their weekly ad, as these transactions must be done in person; the information for this deal can be found on Page 6 of the linked ad.
Here is the breakdown of discounts with your trade-ins:
$300 off the Xbox One X (Total is $199 + pre-discount tax):
$250 off the Xbox One X (Total is $249 + pre-discount tax):
Xbox One S, PS4 (any kind), Nintendo Switch
$200 off the Xbox One X (Total is $299 + pre-discount tax):
-PS4 & PS4 Pro: Working condition console, AC cord, working condition PS4 controller, charging cable for PS4 controller, any HDMI cord (per Gamestop associate, OEM HDMI cord not required. YMMV at Microsoft Store)
-Xbox One/Xbox One S: Working condition console, AC cord, working condition Xbox One S controller (no batteries needed), any HDMI cord (OEM HDMI cord not required. YMMV at Microsoft Store)
I am actually going to trade in my Xbox One S right now, so I will let you know if the tax paid is on the full price or the discounted price after trade-in.
After trading in my console at Gamestop, I encountered a couple cool tidbits and one not so much:
1) They allowed me the PUBG Xbox One X bundle in place of the regular Xbox One X, as they're the same price. The computer took the bundle just fine, and it rang up as such on the receipt.
2) I got rid of a stained (no idea how) controller with a janky joystick through the trade-in, and now have a brand new black one. That was a bit of a nice perk.
3) Presumably exclusive to the PUBG Bundle, the 1 Month Xbox Live Gold and 1 Month Game Pass are not exclusively for new members of Xbox Live Gold/Game pass, and can be stacked onto your existing membership, as opposed to the codes that usually come with the Xbox One S which were valid for "new members only." (If you do not get the PUBG bundle and still find this is the case, please let me know by commenting below.)
1) The tax is killer on this deal. The tax is of the item at full price, so expect to be paying $40 for tax. My total on the PUBG bundle was $291.24, with $41.25 being state taxes (NV, 8.25% tax) Reports are inconsistent regarding tax. You might get lucky, as some are reporting they were only taxed on $250 while others on the full $499. YMMV.
As some users have stated, many states are having Tax Free weekends in the coming weeks. One coming up soon is in Massachusetts. Check to see if yours is participating (and if the Xbox One X will be an eligible purchase) at the following link: http://time.com/money/5356365/tax...days-2018/
Deal ends August 28th, 2018.
EDIT: Thanks to sa.guly10, we have a possible YMMV addition to this trade-in offer. On page 2 of the weekly ad, it says starting on AUGUST 10, 2018, you will receive a free game valued at a maximum of 59.99 with the purchase of any xbox console. As of yet, I am unsure if these deals are able to be combined,
but I am going to wait until the 10th myself to find out.
(Sorry, I was too impatient to wait). Chances are it will NOT work, as the small print on the same page says "Offers cannot be combined with any other offer or discount." Still, worth a try/waiting if you're intending on utilizing this deal.
