Posted this because this printer has many good things for the price. It's a color laser, has wired & wireless & mobile & airprint & Google cloud print connections, duplex printing (prints both sides), photo printer, scans with an automated document feeder, had a screen for selecting printer options, has many low priced toner options available, and is a solid brand.

Only thing missing is fax which wasn't an issue for me.

Generate professional-looking documents with this Canon ImageCLASS color laser printer. With the ability to print up to 19 ppm, this device lets you speed through jobs, and it has individual color and black ink cartridges, so you only replace what's needed. This Canon ImageCLASS color laser printer delivers a resolution of up to 1200 dpi for easy-to-read text.

Laser printers suit best for high-volume printing
Handle large volumes quickly and at a low cost per page. Toner (powder) is used instead of ink, so you get smudge-free images and text.

Wireless and mobile printing capability
Connect this printer to your home or office network with built-in Ethernet or wireless LAN. Plus, print from your mobile device with Google Cloud Print or WiFi® Direct Connection.

Apple® AirPrint-enabled
For Apple iPad® and iPhone® printing.

1200 dpi (dots per inch) for excellent print quality
Medium resolution for producing sharp text, even at 6 points or smaller, and graphics with thin lines and curves.

4 individual print cartridges are economical
Only replace the ink cartridge (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) when its color runs out.

Large paper trays for high-volume printing and copying
Reload less often with the 250-sheet input tray. Copy or scan multiple pages easily with the 50-sheet automatic document feeder.

5.0-inch color LCD screen
Easily input commands for printing, copying and scanning directly from the printer.

1 USB port for simple connectivity
The high-speed USB 2.0 port offers a standard connection to your PC or a simple way to plug in and print with a USB drive, camera or other device.

More print, copy and scan solutions
Automatically print two-sided documents, scan documents to your computer or directly to e-mail and more.

This printer will be overkill for you, and going to print at a library or print shop would be tedious for when you do have to print. It's true that inkjet cartridges will dry out after awhile. Toner is already dry powder.

A cheap Brother laser printer would be best in your situation. Single-function (print only) Brother laser printers can be found for as cheap as $40ish sometimes here on SD. If you want multi-function, the Brother laser multi-functions can be as cheap as $90ish when posted here.

I'm recommending Brother specifically because their genuine OEM high-yield toners (about 2,600 pages) are usually about $40ish on Amazon. They come with a starter cartridge which will give you about 1,000 pages, if I remember correctly. Third-party toners can be bought cheaper, but they are iffy and not worth the hassle in my opinion.

Looks like it was on sale for $175 before as a daily deal. Thanks but I'll wait.

I was hoping this had duplex scanning, but it seems that this 632 does not. The 634 does, but it is $45 more. Frown

You say laser is good for high volume printing. I'm looking for exactly the opposite. Someone who prints 1-2 pages every six months.

I hear toner will last me a lifetime where I'll need to replace dried ink once per year whether I use it or not.

You should just print at your local FedEx office/ups store/library then.

Headed out to BB to check this printer out in a few minutes. On their site they are taking $20 toner if you buy it with the printer...which comes pre-installed cartridges of toner. Thanks OP!

Thinking of getting this for an occasional use home office, as I need a multi function (print, scan) for those times when one needs it and fedex etc is closed or one is working from home.

Is this a good buy? Or are there cheaper, comparable options out there?

I prefer laser, duplex printing is not needed.

Thank you

I just got the Dell C1760 a few weeks ago, but am going to sell it, because this is more of what I need... the multi-function part.

Doesn't the d in "Cdw" indicate it does duplex

edit: didn't see scanning was mentioned
