Are any of you guys were Redbox owners? Wondering how it is operating it, franchise cost, retail rental stories, anything you can give me any insight to. Was surprised to see in center city Philadelphia, not that many locations around. Everything is a 15-20 minute walk from where I'm at. Thinking there might be an opportunities there.

Fewer and fewer devices are playing media. More and more are streaming. There will always be a market for the audiophiles and videophiles, but most people enjoy the convenience of streaming. Especially as more telecom companies start becoming multimedia distributors and providers along with ripping off Plex. ie Comcast/NBC/StreamAnywhere app.

Any Blockbuster owners out there? I'm thinking about opening a store where people come in and rent movies instead of hitting two buttons on their remote. Any thoughts?

I dont see nothing wrong if the OP wants to see if money is to be made on RB. I would actually also be interested. Also usually new movies are in RB machines, as well as video games (which those are in demand). The difference with Blockbuster/Hollywood video was it was big stores with tons of movies/video games, but also big locations with lots of expenses. Here you just need a small machine that doesnt really require workforce (hell even the OP can manage to do maintenance if he wanted to).

In my area I see lots of people rent from RB so I could see a consideration to look into if money can be actually made.

I was under the impression that all Redbox's were corporate owned. I know Redbox will pay the landowner a leasing fee, but that's it.
