"duel-encryption wireless technology"... That sounds problematic. :-)

A few months back I went through looking for a security system. I bought this and had nothing but issues. I ended up with the Ring alarm and couldn't be happier.

If you need the SmartThings hub I would just buy it separately and get the Ring alarm or Abode.

Can you tell us more about the trouble?

I am seriously considering an alarm system that can work with SmartThings without having to pay monthly fees.

$25/month on "intrusion" $15 (starter kit items) for "life safety" (additional purchase of Water sensor, fire, and co monitor). If you combine both it's $35/month

Can't speak for everyone else, but my zigbee devices have disconnection issues. This happens randomly, but more so to far range devices or floor to floor and more often during a firmware update. I need to manually reconnect them. It happens much less to my z wave devices, though, I only have two, compared to the 7 for zigbee.

If you already have a wired system and want to get away from monitoring fees and integrate with Smartthings, another option (the route I'm going) is Konnected.io [konnected.io]. The integration is pretty straight-forward and it seems to work really well with my existing smart home.

I have a hardwired system with 24 zones and monitoring for $9/mo through nextalarm but would like to update my panel and keypads to something modern ... Any ideas where to start?
