It's more of its own beast where it compliments anti-virus programs rather than filling in that role. My reason of comparing it to Malwarebytes is that at one point there was an opportunity to get lifetime upgrades for what is now a pretty robust piece of software that charges annual fees. Heimald is fairly new in relation, but has been pretty well regarded by reviewers and has been constantly improving. In short, it may end up being another Malwarebytes like opportunity.

You cannot really compare it to malwarebytes just because it is a lifetime license. Malwarebytes can detect and REMOVE malware, heimdal can only detect and the company clearly states in the review that malware detection is not the main goal of its software

Don't underestimate it. It's actually way better than Malwarebytes. We us it on over 100 endpoints and it does an amazing job. Not to mention the support is incredible. They will be releasing an AV based on Avira definitions soon making it an AIO solution.

But in the linked review it says it can detect malware but can't remove it. It kind of defeats the purpose of me having to download another software to remove the malware. The upcoming AV release will that be included in this lifetime software?

Yes but it will only detect viruses and not remove them.

It doesn't remove it blocks it. It doesn't have to remove it.

Lots of misinformation here...

Heimdal works by blocking malware from coming in contact with your system in the current version through file and url/ip filternig. It also automatically updates some applications.

Its next version, which you can update to by clicking the beta checkbox in updates, will have Avira-based definitions virus scanner.

I think this is a great deal for a great product and purchased it for myself about a week ago. It will only get better with time.
