Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 $552/637 for student accounts Unidays

Samsung just released the Galaxy Tab S4 yesterday. My Tab Pro 12" is really starting to show it age so I needed a replacement. The Tab S3 was just a bit too small. So, the Tab S4 should be a decent replacement. I tried replacing it with a Dell 2 in 1 but the Windows tablet experience is very poor and Android emulators require a good amount of processor power.

Currently these are only sold through Samsung and Best Buy. Samsung has their Unidays program for student and those who still have their student accounts. The Discount is 20% and can be used on both the 64gb ($519) and 256GB ($599) version and stacks with the 50% off deal on the keyboard case.

There is also a deal to pre-order the Note 9.

This is a tablet that has some laptop function. For a student who wants to do some Android gaming and be able to do some school work it works well. This isn't going to replace your desktop and if you use a laptop a lot it likely isn't going to replace that either.

Yes this tablet is expensive, but if you enjoy Android gaming it is worth it. Just because this tablet is too expensive for your preferences is no reason to be a hater. Some people think that classic Camaro that came with the mobile home you bought 30 years ago is a gas guzzling waste of money, but to each their own.

Sorry y'all! This deal isn't hot, but we aren't going to get a hot deal on this tablet for a while. I doubt this is going to be a Black Friday special. If the S3 is large enough for you, it will likely be all over on Black Friday.

I suspect OP was going from the advertised "up to 20% off" for student discount .
Actual pricing + discount in your cart:

Galaxy Tab S4 64GB WiFi - $552.49 + tax ($97.50 savings)
Galaxy Tab S4 256GB WiFi - $637.49 + tax ($112.50 savings)
Galaxy Tab S4 64GB Verizon LTE - $620.49 + tax ($109.50 savings)

They keyboard is still 50% when purchased together - $69.37 + tax ($75 savings)

Once the new ipad is released later this year, I expect another $100 discount or so as they did last year. That combined with this student discount, if it's still the same, will be a winner for me.

The keyboard is now 34.50 and the tab 552.39, still just merely an ok deal. This is essentially the Note 8 with a bigger screen. Need this to be 499 before tax with keyboard included to move at all.

Very nice tablet, but considering that Android tablet market is pretty much dead or on life support, this is at least $250 overpriced.

Still over 160 million tablet sales a year, most are Android. Just because sales are slowing and/or adjusting, doesn't mean it's dead. There are still a lot of folks who want Android (or iOS) tablets for what they were intended. Media consumption and entertainment devices. It wasn't until manufactures started shoving these into the work/productivity space and gave up on innovation that sales went down.

I mean, why buy a new tablet when the one you have on the couch from 2-3 years ago works just as well? For me, I'm over due for a new tablet. And now that Samsung has gone back to a media friendly 16:10 format, I'm all over this. They just need to fix their price; as they usually do, within a few months.

Now maybe if they went with Snapdragon 845 and 6GB of RAM, I'd be more inclined to impulse buy. Maybe...

But they didn't... price will go down.

Most of those are in emerging markets and are cheap low margin tablets. Most mid tier players have quit Android for tablets. The fact is right now, iPad really is the undisputed tablet king, and I've been an Android fanboy all this time and still am.

True, but Android is Android. As long as there are manufactures who can create a business case for said tablet, they'll live on for the foreseeable future. Point is their death continues to be highly exaggerated. I for one, am glad to see somebody still trying to make it work on the high-end Android space. Even if they're over-valuing their product line...

The only thing I see significantly changing that is if ChromeOS manages to fully replace Android on Tablets. They're clearly moving in that direction, but have a long way to go. A browser made for a desktop just isn't ideal on a touch based tablet-only device. Same applies to Windows.

Also, I have both Android and iOS devices around the house. I just prefer Android myself. Maybe if Apple came out with an AMOLED 16:10 tablet... combined with iOS 12.

I remember when people said that the PC is dead and is going to be replaced by tablets. Now they are saying that Apple's biggest competitor is dying. From my experience with 1 in 2s and the Microsoft Surface, Windows does not work well on a tablet. The only serious competitor to Apple tablets are Android tablets. Tablets have carved out a nice niche and won't be going anytime soon. So, I doubt the number 2 OS is going anywhere soon.

This tablet is a laptop replacement. Just like 2 in 1's don't make very good tablets this probably isn't going to make a great laptop. I used my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12" for mobile school work when I earn my BSN and this tablet will likely do better. Sure it would be a nicer deal if the price where lower, but the price is unlikely to go lower any time soon.

One of the reasons I seldom post deals to Slick Deals is that you always have a dozen people who don't know the technology or have a use for it, who think in their infinite wisdom that if it is not for $50 or less that it is not a deal. I see at this moment that I have a baker's dozen.

I hope at least a few people got the discount on the more powerful tablet they were waiting for or a pre-order on a Note 9.

Samsung S3 tab is $199 in Costco store. So Samsung will be $199 next year as well,
considering that Android tablet market is pretty much dead or on life support, this is at least $350 overpriced

Why did this get so many thumbs down? I cannot find a better deal on the Tab s4. Not a student, but got the account pretty easily. They even say if you send an ineligible tablet they'll give you $25 trade in credit so I'll send them a touchpad.

Should I check my local costcos for s3 first or something? Was looking at xiomi mimate, but it's a lot sloweer, was looking at huawai mediamate but its bootloader locked and not rootable. Everything else probably won't be as good at gaming. Looking for a tablet for gaming with guaranteed root or jailbreak. looked at iPads for a sec, but there's a lot of caveats to which can be jailbroken.

LTE Verizon version isn't giving me an option to add the keyboard case. Only the non-LTE versions shows me an option to add the keyboard case. Anyone experiencing the same?

Samsung S3 tab WAS $199 in Costco stores. No more.
Also disagree, Android tablet market is not on life support, it is dead.
Samsung can price these whatever they want as 90% of people won't bother. The other 10% would pretty much pay any price.
