Specifically at Safeway for the VISA GC: "$4.95 purchase fee" so all you're saving is the friggin fee. I didn't even know you paid a fee to get a GC, but I always get electronic ones, not physical ones.

It's a deal for those w/ category spend bonuses at grocery stores, 5% CB w/ OBC, or Preferred. Drawback is limited liquidation channels. But I've used them for copays and paying bills online.

Is this in store or online?

Can anyone explain the savings here? In either cases I'm paying 9.9 as GC processing fee alone.
No card has 5% CB this quarter I guess.

I use my cash back CC for copays (and bills) and FSA for for reimbursement of copays.

That was my point (and reason for my TD). Fortunately I was already at Safeway for my weekly shopping and only wasted a couple of min at the CS counter on this non-SD.

It's a way for me to get 3-5% CB outside of the supermarket at places I normally only get 2%. Usually end up paying bills online.

Vons has $10 off 1 Visa cards from time to time, typically applicable to variable load cards too. That's more worth it, as you only get hit with the $5-6 purchase fee once.

The $15 off 2 $100 Visa cards is still a deal, as you come out ahead even without factoring in CB.

Not really sure whether it's worth the hassle anymore, especially if I end up losing it or having the card hacked/stolen, the latter of which has happened to me a couple times in the past.

It's an AMEX offer you have to load onto your card. Log into your account and see if it's there.
