Chase Ultimate Rewards: Save 10% on Select Gift Card Redemptions (REI, GameStop, Home Depot*, American Eagle Outfitters, Sephora, Yankee Candle, Spotify, Regal Cinemas and More)

+14 Deal Score

This obviously isn't for everyone (given 1.1 cents in value for gift card redemption, versus 1.5 cents value on travel redemptions) -- the legion of fan boys/girls of Mr BowTie (MMS) and DOC seem to get salty on redeeming URs for anything but travel; Not everyone has the paid version of CSR, or the magic combo of CSR + Freedom or CIP + Freedom (for 1:1 UR to travel partners).

For those that aren't using UR's for travel, Chase is having a sale on gift card redemptions.

For the personal' UR side:
  • 10% off GameStop
  • 10% off REI
  • 10% off Sephora
  • 10% off Spotify
  • 10% off Regal Cinema
  • 10% off Yankee Candle
  • 10% off SpaFinder

*For those w/ business Chase UR cards, there's:
  • 10% off Home Depot

TD for suggesting anyone ever use UR for anything other than travel.
Gift cards? I'd triple TD if I could.
Best way to get max benefits for travel? just book through it?

He did put a full disclaimer in the post, no need to repeat, haha. It doesn't hurt us that some people don't max out the full value of the UR points like we do. Let them do what they want.

Assuming you have a Sapphire preferred or reserve, transfer to an airline partner like United, Southwest isn't bad, Hyatt has some really good redemptions as well.

Given 10% off discounts are posted on slickdeals for each of those gift cards at least every month or so, Id say this isnt a deal. If a person was really inclined to want to get 10% off, they would redeem for cash, then go to ebay/raise/etc and purchase the gift card at 10% off and then get an additional 1% off by using your chase credit card to make that purchase....then use the 1:1 cash transfer to you bank and pay off the credit card with that.

Only reason someone might need to do this is if they are looking to purchase something RIGHT now at one of those retailers.

Garbage 'deal'. Most of these cards can be acquired for 10% off or more on the resale market, so on some of those brands you're better off buying from there and cashing out your UR.

Pretty much anyone can resell UR at at least 1.3cpp, so not having a Sapphire is not an excuse for wasting your points. There's also plenty of other cards besides CSR that will let you transfer points and don't cost $450.

Even if you explain the reasons behind why you're stupid, guess what, you're still stupid.

Since Freedom is 5% at Walgreens, pick up some hemroid creme, or better yet use one of your OBC

Thanks for noting the disclaimer. Some forget that Chase caters to different spectrums of the population w/ their products -- many signed up for Freedom or FU in school or when they graduated and don't have paid versions of CSR or own a small business. So, they're not at the stage of going to Wallyworld.

People need to "take advantage" of these kinds of deals or otherwise the perks will continue to diminish. Stop criticizing them.

I know plenty of people that cash out their UR points for statement credits and I don't agree with it but I wouldn't call them stupid either. Some people don't travel and others don't want to get banned for selling points. Just because some people don't do what you do, that's no reason to call them stupid. Let them do what works for them..

Thanks to the OP for posting so that i can pass on the info to people who don't take advantage of UR point redemption.
