Experience with Walmart.com store pick-up price adjustment

So I ordered a trimmer for store pickup at a Wal-Mart store that had them in stock for $60 when the normal price is $124. I was charged $124+tax when I ordered online for store pickup.

The woman said in the store the amount would adjust and I'd get the difference. About 30 minutes later I got the email that I was being refunded $64. Great! Except what about the tax?

On the app under order history it shows $60 + "estimated" tax of $7.75 (the amount of tax on $124 in this town). On my CC it shows a pending charge of $131.75.

Does anyone have experience with this and do you know if I will be charged the correct amount to of tax on $60 the adjusted amount - or the tax on $124 the original amount?

They have always included the tax whenever I've done this.

As far is I know, this is how it's always been with their automatic in store price adjustment. Is there a reason you just didn't go and buy it in the store, we're you afraid that that they would run out of stock?

They had 3 on hand so I ordered it online for store pickup. Good thing as there were none on the shelf and almost immediately they went OOS.

That doesn't seem right if they don't refund the tax difference. The legally can only collect tax on the sale price.

I know that, but the only way to do that is a return/rebuy and that's kind of ymmv. It's just the way the system is.
