They are not listed as an authorized dealer. Does this make anyone else nervous? Does this mean that LG won't honor the warranty?

I would wait for Buydig to hit this price. Don't risk it with Massdrop

I'm still waiting on my SK9Y from Massdrop which I already regret. I've stumbled upon much better prices since commiting to that drop.

I assume Massdrop just buys it for you from an authorized dealer so warranty isn't an issue.

Estimated ship date is Sep 28, 2018 PT.

I would try $4,000 on Greentoe and see what they counteroffer before ever using Massdrop since Massdrop takes forever to ship. The counteroffer might be even lower than Massdrop.

I wasn't planning on buying this TV but I see people posting deals from unauthorized dealers like Greentoe. While I'm sure it's fine, I just wanted to let people know what they could be getting into if they have a problem down the road.

Personally, I am looking at Costco to get a TV. With the extra year warranty and an extra 2 years if you buy it with their credit card, I don't mind spending a little extra.

Greentoe get it from Buydig and it comes with a Buydig receipt so you should be ok. Personally I rather buy direct from Buydig. They have some of the best customer service. I bought TVs from them and return with no hassle at all when there is an issue.

You can always buy a warranty from SquareTrade.

That completely defeats the purpose. A TV warranty that costs up to $2999.99 is $350. The cost is probably going to be more for a $5K TV.

May as well buy it from an authorized dealer then.

As tr0n9h posted, Greentoe orders go through a manufacturer authorized retailer so you do get the manufacturer's warranty. You can also buy a 3-year Squaretrade warranty for a TV over $1000 from Costco for $99 if you buy the TV from an authorized retailer. If you buy from Costco you end up with 5 years total warranty vs. 4 if you buy elsewhere. I've not worked with Massdrop before but have worked with Greentoe and it was a very smooth transaction and the receipt was from a well-known authorized retailer.

I didn't know you could get a SquareTrade warranty if you bought outside of Costco. Good to know.

Edit: I will say that the SquareTrade warranty is free right now if you buy from Costco.

How are people still getting this stuff wrong after years of LG TV threads explaining it?

being an "authorized dealer" or not is irrelevant to the LG TV warranty.

If it's a US model, sold at retail in the US, new in box, it gets a full 1 year LG warranty. Period full stop. Regardless of if the dealer is "authorized" or not.

you can tell by reading the actual warranty where the term "authorized dealer" doesn't even appear.
