Yeah, I believe that is the most typical usage for these.

Maybe their whole family destroys the bathroom and they need an industrial sized fan so no dies from the fumes. And they don't know how to courtesy flush.

Can it be used to control a bathroom fan?

yes, it needs a neutral, ground, and hot wire. most homes will have this. older homes with old wiring probably wont.

Yes, they work great for a bathroom fan. They make for a nice upgrade from a typical switch that people forget to turn off.

Is this brand a dependable one? I bought a no name one off of Amazon a few years ago, and overtime the various LED lights are going out on it. My namebrand one works fine, however. For switches and electrical gear, I'm sticking with well known dependable name brands from now on.

These type of switches also work great for a porch light or the outdoor light by your front door, so you don't leave it on all night.

At least from my long term experiance with the better Leviton brand timers like this.
For some reason the 15 amp models have a problem working with a motor on a simple bath fan that is rated under 15 amps.
I had to step up to the 20 amp model times which work great.

15 amp would be fine for lighting only.
Actually this is designed to work on any motor up to 1/2 horsepower. The instructions it comes with says this.

You can not really compare one brand to another. They often are not the same.

It has good reviews. The only bad reviews were from people too stupid to read and follow the directions. Or their homes didn't have the necessary wiring, which isn't the fault of the switch.
And yes, this will run a bath fan. That's where most people use them, to keep the fan running long enough to draw moist air out of bathroom afterwards.

Uhh. You realise bathroom fans generally consume under 1A right?

Many of the reviews on this specific product report success w/ bathroom fan. The negative reviews are pretty much all people who couldn't install because their box didn't have the necessary wires, or people complaining about the functionality of the LEDs on the switch itself.

I use a similar switch I got from amazon rated for 15A, works perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this for a bathroom fan. I'm actually a little tempted to pick a couple up for turning my outdoor lights on for a couple hours, or for my laundry room which I often forget to flip off.
