With app-controlled movement in all directions, Smart R2-D2 is a mobile droid, able to communicate and explore! Use the Hasbro Star Wars Smart R2-D2 app to send Smart R2-D2 on exciting missions, and even program him to follow routes. Smart R2-D2 plays and dances to music and makes authentic droid sounds.

Walmart offers the Star Wars Smart Remote Control R2-D2 for $23.62.
Opt for in-store pickup to avoid the $5.99 shipping fee.
That's within a buck of the best price I've seen.
It's low now at $12. It features app-controlled movement and the ability to play music and dance.

The Force Awakens version just sits there in low power mode doing nothing. This one is much better.

Just want to point out that this is the larger and more simple Hasbro Droid, and NOT the smaller and more featured Sphero version that has the retractable 3rd leg. Both cool toys, but this one is much more simple in operation.

So the app will be pulled? That is problematic. I'm sure some site will have the APK but compatibility might decay

Fantastic value! I don't own this one, but I do own the Force Awakens version, which, as far as I can tell, is the same R2, just in a different package/box.

It's a sturdy, nice sized unit and is detailed enough, and well painted enough to look good on display.

I think I payed $35 if I remember correctly for mine on clearance and I still feel like that is an amazing price for this toy...$24? That's a steal!

I highly recommend this. Christmas is coming up pretty quickly and this would make a fantastic gift for any star wars fan...young and old.

I thought the same thing at first but my expectations were subverted.

The app is still up in the play store. I don't know why hasbro would bother pulling the app, but that's a good idea to save a copy to a PC to sideload it later. I wouldn't worry about apk compatibility. That's an apple thing.

I bought this back in January from the Walmart clearance rack for about the same price. It's an awesome STEM toy. The guy behind me was a poacher and said to me "oh, I must have missed one. I bought the whole lot last week and flipped them on eBay for $100 a piece". I thought he was full of it, but when I checked on Amazon the price was about 100 and I could see the toy going for a lot more than 20 bucks. If you can find one it's totally worth it. Even just as an emergency birthday present for pretty much any age. I put it on the auto play/demo mode and my toddler follows its every move.
