Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD was released on the Nintendo Switch eShop today after the Nintendo Direct. The regular price is 29.99, but it's available at an introductory price of 17.99.

While technically not a "deal" given that it is only available at this price at the moment, I figured I'd raise awareness since it won't stay at this price forever.

Nintendo will soon be charging for online. This coincides with added content for those that sign up (right now, it's a bunch of NES game). Oh, and you can now use a smartphone app to "voice chat" with other people while playing games.

Basically, they don't want people with multiple profiles on their switch to be using the same online account. They want families to use the "Family Plan," which is more expensive. Thus, this is why your profiles will now be registered to your device. That being said, this shouldn't effect transferring profiles if you need to (e.g. your console dies and you need to purchase another one).

The whole online pricing thing doesn't bother me.

But... really... phone app to voice chat. I feel like Sony/Microsoft planted a mole in their business and that mole has finally taken a position where some truly dumb ideas can be implemented. I mean, I know nintendo has never embraced online gaming... but it's like they are trying to make it fail.

It's basically an abridged version of the game with a graphical overhaul (think cute 3D anime models). If you're playing for story, it's probably not worth it given the fact you've already beaten it. You can always download a demo on mobile devices to see if it's your thing.

It's different right now because it's cheaper on Switch. That game isn't free. It's free to start the first chapter, but $20 for the rest of them. Also, I was reading that on mobile, it uses a tap to move system. I would hope on the Switch, you move with analog or directional input.

If I've already beaten ff xv on the PS4, is there a reason to pick this up?

No Physical Copy?
I don't believe Square Enix has announced a physical release yet.

Just another way Nintendo is baiting you to the 6.0 upgrade and locking your account down. Ain't nothin' but a thang.
Lighten me on the locking account down? (sorry, new to switch)

This isn't just a graphical re-make that the switch can handle. The controls are simplified and content has been taken out.

Ended up picking this game up and giving it a shot, I have no experience of any FFXV. But I'll also be picking up the FFXV for Ps4 just for graphical purposes.
