13 pages of one star reviews: broke in three minutes, clipper head broke right off, plastic clipper head broke off, blades not parallel doesn't cut evenly, nothing like my old Wahl, gave up after half a hair cut, causes nicks and bleeding, head is retained by a plastic clip that broke in first use.

I would assume that opposable thumbs would be a requirement to use these.

If you don't need the portability get a corded one.

This basic one does the job for less than 11 bucks.

Conair Hair Trimmer [ebay.com]

I used a portable one in the past, but got tired of the weak motor and battery. Hair cuts would take twice as long and not uncommon to pull on hair as you move it too quickly.

Corded ones just have more juice, are faster and give you a cleaner cut. Don't worry about the accessories, you just need the basic hair guides that go on the blades, everything else is junk.

Get some paintbrushes from the dollar store. Use the small one to clean the hair clipper and the big on your face and neck. Great for kids that don't like itchy hair on their necks.

For the oil i use WD40 to keep it running smooth. Spray and wipe off the excess oil. The included oil works but is hard to apply with a tube. The spray straw gets it right where its needed.

Going to try this cordless one - the cord ALWAYS gets in the way.

How is this for dogs? I have a large corded one but could use a smaller one for his paws. I got a 30 lb sheltie

I use this for my 90 lb labradoodle. It works good, just smaller then I expected so takes me a bit longer, the cordless part helps alot. If you're just using it for the paws, I think it'll be good.

I have the wired version of this model and have been pretty happy with it. Cordless would be even better. These are easy to use and save a ton of money not having to go to a barber.
