How do I earn extra data? (Freedom Friends)

You can earn additional free data each month by connecting with friends on FreedomPop! You'll earn 50MB of additional data for every friend that joins our service per month, up to a maximum of 50 MBs per month. Both your account and your friends account must be active. If either account is dormant, sharing data will not work.

You can also share data between friend accounts (a maximum of 50 MBs, and 5 MBs with each friend). The account sharing data must be an active one. If the account is inactive it cannot share data with any friends and data cannot be requested of that account.

Please Note: If you have already received 50MBs of data -- either from the automatic Freedom Friends function that gives you 5 MBs per friend or from data that has been shared with you-you will not be able to accumulate more data from Friends. https://support.freedompop.com/ap.../a_id/2186

*FreedomPop has been subject to targeted abuse with users leveraging multiple accounts to aggregate additional free data. We have tried to battle the abuse by adding conditions around accounts with no data usage over several months, but unfortunately we have been forced to limit the friends sharing program.

Solid deal as you get service for $3.33/Month and there's no need to give FreedomPop your credit card. Simple prepaid SIM and not much to lose. If you buy Target giftcards at a discount, savings will be further increased.

Is it LTE only, meaning voice and texts needs ATT LTE service to work?

It's not LTE-Only. However, it is Data-Only. There's no native calling/texting.

I'm thoroughly confused about how Freedompop works. Anyone do a simplified version for me?

Their website is a mess that reminds me off a scam site, as opposed to a legit business. I was thinking of switching from T-Mobile to Mint Mobile, $15/month for 2GB data, unlimited text/voice if you prepay for a year. I have very light usage, and barely call or use data. Even 500 MB per month of data would be sufficient.

The complaints against FreedomPop are for normal service. This is a completely Prepaid SIM, and there's no CC required.

FreedomPop works on a freemium model where the basic tier is free service, but they make their margin off the conversation to paid plans/services. Lately they have imposed many restrictons and many additional fees that have turned off most users. They seem to be sinking financially. You don't need to be concerned though for this SIM since it's prepaid service without any requirement for your personal billing information. Plus you are buying from Target.

No CC required. For now. This company changes their terms with no notice. "Prepaid" is not why you don't need to be concerned. "$9.99" is why.

I guess my concern is more what do I do after porting my number to them and 3 months gone by, and my introductory offer is over?

I can't seem to find proper pricing on that.

That looks fantastic. Will check them out. Only concern is my TMobile locked phone may not work with them.

I wouldn't port your number to FreedomPop. This is good only for Data-Only. If you want to use VoIP, port to Google Voice.

You can buy more than one of these SIM's.
