These add-on speakers sit on top of your front speakers. That's why they fire upwards, to bounce sound off the ceiling. I dunno why the other person said anything about mounting to the ceiling.

The only thing to be aware of is the curvature of the speakers. They're designed to fit perfectly with the other Andrew Jones collection speakers, but they'll function just fine paired with any set.

Novice here.. I just bought the hkts16 (harmon kardon 5.1 speakers only). My plan is to buy a 7.1 receiver to hook up the 5.1 speakers PLUS add the atmos speakers to it.

Which of the two should I be buying to achieve the above plan.. I just want to buy the cheapest option if possible.

Like I said, I am a novice. Please be gentle :-)

Listing is incorrect. The bookshelf speakers are $149.99 after coupon and the add-on speakers are $99.99. You have it listed backwards.

Honestly, you can use whatever speakers you want if you're fine with mounting to your ceiling.

Thank you!

Does the add ons have to ceiling mounted? I thought the addons go on top of an existing bookshelf speaker, no?

I am inclining towards just getting the addons

These are no good for cathedral/vaulted style ceilings, correct?

I sit in the center of the room, and the screen is center a swell. Ceilings taper down to the sides of me (equally on both sides), and of course my surrounds are to the side as well

I've been waiting to add these poor-man's-Atmos speakers to my AJ front & rear speakers. But they've been a hundred bucks for a pair on amazon very often according to ccc: https://urlhasbeenblocked/Pioneer-SP-T22A-LR-Speaker-designed-Andrew/product/B0148NPHO8?utm_campai... [urlhasbeenblocked] and I like the idea of a 4-year warranty add-on for these kinds of things for about $5 per pair: https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-T22A-LR-Speaker-designed-Andrew/dp/B0148NPHO8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&q... The Pioneer SP-T22A-LR Add-on Speaker is what you want unless the harmon kardon speaker are really small.

Speaker rarely break (no moving parts). I have speakers that are over 25 years old and still work and sound great.
