I was in the market for an archery target and found this one at Dicks. It's currently on sale for $39.98 and there's a $20 mail in rebate reducing it to $19.98. I've had it for a week, the reviews are legit. It is really heavy, but also stops arrows really well. And as it says, it is very easy to pull arrows from.

There is life outside of politics. I disagree with their political stances, I like AR-15s, but let's face it, nobody was going there to buy MSRs in the first place. They stopped selling handguns there quite a few years ago and literally nobody cared at all. This was a marketing move by a store who's market is dominated by youth sporting equipment sales.

I still go there all the time because they have good coupons, and honestly I don't think there's another store within 45 minutes of my house where I can buy a pair of reasonable pair of goalie gloves. This is a good deal on a good target. Again, there is life outside of politics, but I feel this becomes harder to remember every year for everyone.

I got the same target, same deal a few weeks ago. It's great. Definitely worth $20 plus a stamp. I already received and deposited my rebate check, too.

Besides they really screwed themselves when they choose to destroy them. Doubt firearm sales was ever a money maker for them. They mainly focused on sports.

Here is my 2 cents. I'm a slick dealer. The best I could do for a store like this is to not shop their. Most stores take a lost from me because I'll only buy items that are highly discounted.

I stopped using them for general browsing the day Cabelas opened. That was long before this AR debate came into focus.

I'd guess it would work for a few sessions until it's shredded. From the picture it looks like the outside is a large weave nylon material that would likely be pushed aside and spread apart by target points on arrows, allowing it to stay more or less unbroken. I imagine that throwing knives would cut the fibers instead of pushing them out of the way.

Knives usually have wood targets.

Good question. I bought my son another target for his recurve bow and the arrows can barely penetrate it as the weave is too tight. It's not enjoyable. Looking for something else.

What poundage and arrows is your son using? My daughters recurve came with these aluminum arrows with tips that did not penetrate.

Look into getting some kids targets. They are much cheaper. This would work fine for compound bows but really suited for someone shooting 40+ pounds.

I'm not sure but it was a kids starter bow. Not one of those small ones but it's a beginner bow. It's the Barnett Lil' Sioux. The target we have also says youth target on it. It's a bigger white box about 30" square. I can shoot into it with the bow and the arrows it came with (similar to the ones you probably have) but only if I'm really pulling on it and am decently close (under 50')
