Can this be used in place of xfinity's router if I only have internet service through them? Also, would it be better than their router if it is compatible?

I hate this router. I had it for over a year and I had to keep resetting it because I would only get 20-30 mb/s when I should be getting 150 mb/s it was really annoying.

Yes it can. Just be sure you currently have two different devices from xfinity, a modem and a router. Often if you rent your devices from your isp they will give you one combination unit which incorporates the modem and router in a single device. In all probability this Archer router would be a lot better than what infinity gives you.

I've had the Archer C7 router for the past 2 1/2 years. I pay for 150 Mbps service (but usually receive 170 - 200 Mbps). On my router's 5 ghz band I get about 140 -190 Mbps at distances of up to 35 feet away. At about 60 feet away I get about 80 - 90 Mbps on 5 ghz band. On my router's 2.4 ghz band I max out at around 45 - 50 Mbps no matter how close I am to the router. Router placement and antenna orientation definitely play a role in your wifi coverage area and speeds.

I've rarely had to reset the router; maybe two or three times a year. For the last nine months I routinely power off and on my modem and router once a month just to insure the best speeds and trouble free experience. In that time I've had no need to unexpectedly reset either device due to slow/no speeds.

For a good explanation and ratings of different routers check out "the wirecutter" here: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews...fi-router/
Until recently, they rated the Archer C7 as the best router for most people.

Pretty solid price for an AC1750, should be a great upgrade to people still using G or N routers.

I've had this router for almost 2 months now in my apartment (purchased from Amazon). I've been quite happy with it. No drops and good speeds, especially on 5g.

The C7 was an amazing router for my house untill I upgraded to a dlink 880l. That said no complaints at all. Signal was strong no matter where I was in the house. As mentioned earlier if you need the 5ghz band you'll need to be within about 30-40ft but that's pretty true of any 5ghz signal through walls

I have this router with USInternet 1G. Wired I get 945 Mbps down and up. Wireless its around 280 Mbps down and up. I use 2.4GHz for my smart home devices and 5GHz for pc, consoles, etc. Haven't had any problems with it and the user interface is quite good.

Yes, BUT you will need to purchase a modem to receive the internet signal still, so that will be a separate expense, along with buying this router. The modem will bring the signal from the outside to your house, and the router will send the signal wirelessly, or by wire if you want more than one device connected to the internet. I bought this exact router used a few years ago, still works well so longevity is nice.
