Just bought the 12" saw w/ battery for 200. Wish I'd waited! Would love to have the hedge trimmer. Keep having to tape up my extension cord using a corded trimmer :-(

Kind of want the flexvolt weed eater though, instead of this one. Maybe wait for bare hedgte trimmer deal.

Holding out hope that these will be cheaper for Black Friday but it's tough waiting!

Curious----can these string trimmers have anywhere near the "cutting power" of, say, a $200+ Husqvarna or such?

Some reviews claim the flexvolt one does. similar for other brands - the high voltage/capacity ones sound good.

I doubt this 20V is good for much more than trimming around a short front sidewalk, but would love to hear from other users.

Reviews say otherwise. Appears to be highly recommended.

Will be tough for me to pass on this combo for the price. I have a decent Husquvarna 455 Rancher I got from a SD ~4 years ago that runs great, but would be nice to have a quality, fast electric too.

link to chainsaw? I have that saw. Love it.

I find the reviews of the 20V trimmer underwhelming. Sounds like a slight upgrade to me craftsman C3 trimmer. The flexvolt sounds powerful.

Youtube videos of them running seem to match that asssessment.

Note, one reviewer replaced the trimmer head with a husqvarna with good results. I'll wait on the flexvolt weed eater, but wish I'd caught the saw/hedge deal.

Apologies. Should of paid a little more attention. Thought you were referring to the chainsaw, not the trimmer. Still thinking I may bite and sell off the battery and charger to recoup. Should be able to get the cost down to just under $200 for the pair.

Interesting comment on the head switch. Reviews for the trimmer appear good as well.

This should be one tool with two attachments. Would rather have the trimmer on the end of the pole.

I do have the 60v string trimmer, and a beefy older 32cc gas trimmer. The Dewalt has a much or more power than the gas trimmer, plus it ramps up the juice when it lugs down on big stuff, even at full throttle, where the gas, what you have is what you get. My only complaints are a very narrow shield so you get blasted, plus a vented gearhead so you can't hose it off.

I was on the fence last time, with few regrets for not getting this, but now I wonder if it may go lower.

I switched my gas Troy-Bilt for the 20V Dewalt and couldn't be happier. I had ~1/5 acre lot, and I used it to trim around the house foundation, fence, swingset, and along the sidewalks / driveway. I could usually get done on a single battery (think I have the 4 Ah battery). Now, in a townhouse with a ~20'x20' yard, I can easily get everything done with a single 1 Ah battery.

My only problem with it is that it doesn't handle wet grass very well (nor does the blower). Not a big problem as I don't tend to mow when the grass is wet anyway.
