Good to play with edgeOS, but seen many reports on issues with VPN and/or offloading. I keep router usually for a long period of time (or until lightning strike), so for those who'd prefer to keep for longer period of time I'd recommend at least ERLite3

Sorry I don't know much about this but is this a WiFi router?
This is a router. You need to provide a wireless AP for WiFi.

I just received a modem from spectrum yesterday and am now searching for a router to emit WiFi. Would this work?
This does not work by itself to emit WiFi. This is just 1 piece of the puzzle. You need to provide a wireless access point like one of these: https://www.ubnt.com/products/#unifi

I will say that if you have no networking experience configuring more professional grade stuff, then you may have a tough time as this has a steep learning curve.

Chargermike,

This is a WIRED, 4-port gigabit Ethernet router. It has no wireless capability. Since you have a modem, just get a wireless router and you will have wireless and Ethernet connections.

This is a pro router. I love it. I run open VPN server on it. No issues. Never rebooted, except for firmware upgrades. Use it with AP uap-ac-m-pro.. working great so far. If u have little bit of Unix experience you can manage.

The best router I've ever had for my house for $40. I hooked it up with a Netgear and an Asus router I already have to use them as AP access with separate 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz frequencies and everything runs like a dream. I haven't resetted the ER-X for 2 months and counting. I haven't tried VPN on it but with my understanding I'll need a beefier router for satisfactory performance.

Yes it does do Load Balancing. I know two businesses that use this to either load balance or failover for their two connections (one DSL and one Cable), works great.
