Ryzen 1600 compared to 2600

Pros: compatible with 1st-gen AMD motherboards, no updates required, $15 cheaper than 2600 on Newegg

Cons: 200Mhz base clock deficit, 2600 handles boosting clocks much better.

This kind of seem expensive. My wish list is for Rayzen 5 2600 to be around 100-125 as we approach BF

Best of luck on that, 1600 didn't go that low last year during black Friday with second gen imminent. I think 140 is a more realistic, albeit optimistic expectation

Oh lordy, $125 for a Ryzen 2600 would be my "couldn't-help-myself" price. I just bought one, but for that price I might have to get another for my kids.

I think B450M at $65 AR at Fry's is a v good price for those who are not charged tax

An okay price for a very capable CPU, though the 2600 is better in every way.

Given that the 2600 has already dropped as low as $160 more than 6 weeks before BF... $125 might not be entirely crazy.

That was my reaction to the 1600 at that price, and lo and behold Amazon had it back in April.

$15 less at Microcenter for the 1600, and $15 more than this deal there for the 2600. Not so slick if you're near one.
