Chase Ultimate Rewards: Save 10% on Select Gift Card Redemptions (Google Play, Lowe's, Home Depot, Nike and More)

+22 Deal Score

This obviously isn't for everyone (given 1.1 cents in value for gift card redemption, versus 1.5 cents value on travel redemptions); but not everyone has the paid version of CSR, or the magic combo of CSR + Freedom or CIP + Freedom (for 1:1 UR to travel partners).

For those that aren't using UR's for travel or those w/ Freedom only, Chase is having a sale on gift card redemptions.

On the personal' UR side [chase.com]:
  • 10% off Lowe's -- added 11/4/18
  • 10% off Home Depot -- added 11/4/18
  • 10% off Kohl's -- added 11/4/18
  • 10% off Nike -- added 11/4/18
  • 10% off REI -- added 11/4/18
  • 10% off Sak's Fifth Avenue -- added 11/4/18
  • 10% off Google Play® gift cards
  • 10% off Atom Tickets® gift cards
  • 10% off Microsoft Xbox® gift cards
*For those w/ business Chase UR cards, there's:
  • 10% off Google Play® gift cards
No longer available:
  • 10% off Brinker® gift cards, 10% off Macy's® gift cards, 10% off Overstock.com® gift cards, 10% off Petco® gift cards, 10% off Yankee Candle® gift cards
For reference: this is the previous Chase UR Gift Card Redemption thread

It is. Most of these can be had for 15% off or more. So you better cash out and make the GC purchase.
I'm not saying it's not. Transferred 170K to Korean Air before they severed ties.

So what is the best way for me to spend the points, taking into account I don't travel?

It ultimately becomes deals like these then. What I've noticed though with chase UR is that 20-25% off gift cards at times come up. I'm waiting on that since it worked out fairly well back in June

I will force myself to travel to get the best value unless I have health limitation

120K to Korean airline for a return Biz class to Asia = $5000 value

120K to gift card = $1200 value + 10% = $1320

170K to Korean airline for a return First class to Asia = $10000-$20000 value

170K to gift card = $1700 value + 10% = $1870

For me UR point is not as valuable as MR, transfer 87.5K MR 2 months ago to Virgin Atlantic for a First class return flight to Tokyo, value = 2 million yen, approx 18000 USD.

Gift card?.. lol

This. Honest question though, why not get one of the cards that is better for straight cashback instead of a Chase card?

Value only matters if you were willing to pay that in the first place.

Me, I'd rather fly economy and get more trips, with CSR and 50% travel redemption boost.

Another way to get the better deal on GC's would be to buy the GC using your Chase card from the other site at 15% off, then use your UR money to pay off that purchase (assuming Chase UR still offers that option).

You'd spend $85 on a $100 GC, pay for it with your Chase card, you'd get 85 cents back into UR for the purchase too (assuming 1% rewards level), then use $85 of your UR money to pay off the original $85 purchase.

My Chase Freedom isn't my regular card, I just try to maximize the quarterly 5% cash back when the categories work for me and it's been adding up lately. In the past, I've always just used it towards my balance, but now that's it's getting up there, I'm looking for my best option.

I have health limitations that prevent me from traveling except for emergencies. Plus, I've already traveled many, many miles in my past career, and I've had enough of it all.

Thanks. I'll hang onto mine for now to see about those 20%-25% off deals, although they'll probably be for things/places I don't want to spend my money for/at.
