You're being ignorant... Its called standards. And what is the point of reviews if you don't post criticism too?

Quality has gone downhill since private equity bought them out.

None of their shoes are made in the USA.
All of their shoes that say Made in the US are made primarily in the DR then shipped to the US for finishing touches that enables them to say Made in the US.

https://www.shoesonline.xyz/conte...monds.html

"In 2006, concerned with rising manufacturing costs and endeavoring to compete more directly with the boat shoe and handsewn market, Allen Edmonds discontinued their Lewiston, Maine manufacturing plant and moved the handsewn production to their new, company owned factory in the Dominican Republic. Currently, shoe uppers for the Allen Edmonds handsewn collection are cut and sewn in the Dominican Republic. The raw materials are sent there from the U.S., where the uppers are sewn together, then shipped to the factory in Port Washington, Wisconsin to complete their construction, thus allowing them to be labeled "Made in the USA.""

If you bought a pair from 2005 or prior, then 100% I'm sure they were a fantastic pair. But nowadays the craftsmanship just isn't there.

Heres where the CEO himself says the goodyear welt line are made in the DR then finished in USA. He said this in 2011.

https://www.styleforum.net/thread...st-4903126

"the part of the Goodyear welt process that's also done in the DR is the cutting of the upper leathers, sewing of those pieces together and "hanging" of the lining."

In Short. None of the shoes that say "Made in the USA" are actually made in the USA but rather the Dominican republic, then finished in the USA.

as much as i dont believe the AE is worth their price point, the fifth ave firsts for $211 is a pretty solid deal.

Thank you! I got the Fifth Avenue in Midnight Navy and matching belt that I have been eyeing for a while. I was waiting to see if AmEx had another deal but I couldn't pass this up.
