+5 Deal Score

Got the settlement claim notice in my email:

Quick quote:

"You may be eligible for a payment from a settlement reached with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. ("SEC"), Toshiba Corporation ("Toshiba Corp."), and Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corporation ("TSST"). Note that there have been appeals filed to the Court's previous Orders Granting Final Approval of Indirect Purchaser Plaintiffs' Settlements with Sony, NEC, Panasonic, HLDS, PLDS, Pioneer, and TEAC. These appeals are currently pending. Please continue to monitor this website for updates on resolution of the appeals.
Participation in any of the settlements is open to anyone who purchased a new computer with an internal ODD, a stand-alone ODD designed for internal use in a computer, or an ODD designed to be attached externally to a computer while a resident of AZ, CA, DC, FL, HI, KS, ME, MA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NY, NC, OR, TN, UT, VT, WV, or WI during the period of April 2003 to December 2008 for personal use and not for resale. ODD refers to a DVD-RW, DVD-ROM, or COMBO drive manufactured by one or more Defendants or their alleged conspirators.
Regardless of which defendant you purchased your ODD from, the deadline to file a claim is June 28, 2019. You can file a claim by completing the form to the right. The deadline to exclude yourself or object to the Settlement with SEC, Toshiba Corp, and TSST is December 17, 2018. With regard to the settlements with SEC, Toshiba Corp, and TSST, the Court will hold a Final Approval Hearing on February 4, 2019 unless otherwise ordered by the Court."

The payment is "up to $10/drive" whatever that means.

^who cares, just fill in the forms and wait for a check. this one s/b easy to count and thanks to gmail, it's really easy to know what you've purchased and when you purchased it. if i were to guess, i would say for me about 4 computer internals and about 10 externals/standalones. maybe they send me a check for $140, maybe $14. i'm good either way and i understand we are putting our name out there.

just in case anyone asks, the faq says:

Do I need proof of purchase for each optical disk drive claim?
No, proof of purchase is not required given the timeline of 2003-2008. However, you should make certain to report the total number of devices/drives that you would testify to at trial under oath if required. We reserve the right to audit any large volume claim.
