Looks like the teeth scrape the sides.
It should work well for solid core wire, but for stranded, I am not so sure. Sticking with the Irwin for now.

It's my understanding that these work best for small diameter solid wire. Probably good for breadboarding and small electronics. At $10, I'm going to give them a try.
