Warmer climate, I'd go with capacitor based. Lithium batteries and heat don't mix. I've been running 3x Aukey DR02 personally without a hitch.

AFAIK the Anker offerings all use lithium batteries. They say they use special batteries that would withstand heat better, and I've been looking at some of their portable ones with the suction cup to bring on trips and stuff, but I still would not leave it in the car while parked. The DR02 I use have super capacitors. The Aukey DR02 Amazon page state that, and someone has a teardown picture that shows the super capacitors inside. Hope that helps.

C1 or aukey DR02? I hear the DR02 is going on sale this Friday for the usual sale price.

there is a lightening deal right now for the Roav by Anker SmartCharge Spectrum 30W Car Charger [amazon.com] taking it to the $15.99 price without the coupon and I also had an option for an addition $2.00 coupon.

Bought the updated C1 for wife in June 2018. Survived Phoenix heat so far and surprised the adhesive mount hasn't melt yet

That's what I should use for cold South Dakota, right? Anker and its lithium?

From C1's description:

> Regularly formatting the card is recommended.

This is a big smell. This tells me that all is not well with loop recording. Or their G-Sensor is too sensitive and triggers often, thus locking useless event videos - which would warrant frequent formatting to reclaim space.

From the Anker A1 page, Operating temperatures -4℉-158℉ . Either extreme is probably not good for the battery.

Edit: A link that explains the difference between batteries and capacitors https://dashcameras.net/battery-vs-capacitor/
