These are just esp-12f based (esp8266) and can be flashed with tasmota or other firmware in case you have trust issues with "the cloud' or have special needs such as wanting MQTT.

I haven't seen any tutorials for this. But let me tell you, it's a pain in the ass to get them to open cleanly. You must pry them open slowly and then you are at the mercy of the Chinese factory for the rest because there is no way to tell which version you get without partly opening its side.

These have 2 different hardware versions under the same model and everything. One version has a TYWE2S chip, this is the worst to flash. The pins are at the bottom of the board and you have to either desolder the plug or heat the plastic and bend it enough to reach them. Also the GPIO 0 needed to put it in flash mode is a small and very fragile copper pad, you can easily pull it off the chip.

The better version is the TYWE3S, you just need to pry the case open and all the pins are easily accessible, its pretty much a ESP8266 on its side.

When using this with Google Home, what is the delay time? I intend to plug in a lamp to it and am wondering if its relatively quick like say a Philips Hue bulb or does it take a few seconds?

I have a similar BESTEK brand WiFi plug, and am going to order these again. It's pretty much instant, maybe 0.5 seconds? Lights are always on before google home verbally acknowledges my request.

Got a 3 pack a couple of weeks ago and so far they have been working flawlessly. I used the Smartlife app instead of the app they recommend. I was apprehensive at first but it grew on me once i added a couple of smart dimmers into the mix. Great for the price!
