Help needed in finding new Anti-Virus protection for 2019

I've been using Kaspersky for years with no problems but now I hear that I should not use it. Any recs for something else? Free or cheap with rebate would be great. I have a Dell desktop.

Do you get fry's emails? They usually have several protection suites (AVG ect.) on Black Friday or early in december with free shipping that make the suites free after rebate. Bitdefender usually has there own for 5 different machines. A few people say bitdefender had some conflicts with other software. I never did. Ironically I am waiting for the fry's deal on Kaspersky FAR. I have heard the same things about the Russian government probably as you. I have never had any problems ( some upgrades were somewhat painful) with them so I will probably buy another version. Since they work with my malwarebytes without conflict I appreciate that also. I hate Mcafee antivirus anymore. My $.02. Good luck! Let me know what you decide on if you feel like it. Have you thought of some of the free antivirus such as Avast?

Thanks for the reply! My current Kaspersky expires in 2 weeks so I need something now. I found out that Kaspersky offers a free 30 day trial of their anti virus that I may have to use until I can get a good deal on Black Friday. I have never had to pay for this type of software before and it will kill my cheap self if I have to pay now. lol I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post!!

Didn't realize your antivirus subscription expires shortly. As the other person said bit defender has a 6 month free for 1 pc. Here is a list [pcmag.com] of 9 of them evaluated by pc magazine.

Check with your ISP, they often provide a free license. Otherwise, consider using the free Windows Defender, it's much better than you may have heard. Additionally, block malware at the DNS level with cleanbrowsing.org DNS servers, and block malicious ads with uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger browser extensions.
