It is good for light HD video editing.

It seems like a good deal for the current moment if you want a 4k touchscreen, but it is not the best deal on this unit in recent months. This model seems to have a lot of lemons based on user reviews and amount of refurbs available.

This exact refurb model 13-ad173cl was $699.99 shipped after $100 coupon from Adorama on Ebay on June 29, 2018.

Costco online will have a new (not refurb) HP Envy 13-ah1025cl with similar specs but a better i7-8565U CPU for $999.99 + $14.95 shipping + taxes going on sale tomorrow Oct 31, 2018 until Nov 26, 2018, so it overlaps Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I am hoping for a better deal on BF/CM weekend, especially from Costco.

Yes watch out for the lemons, as I bought a low hanging lemon last month. Especially from Newegg/Adorama.

I loved the performance but the dots on the screen were sooo bad. Luckily they gave me a full refund.

This is a fantastic deal if the machine you get is clean and works properly.

Since when did NewEgg charge Sale Tax???

Item is Sold and Shipped by Adorama Camera, if you were to buy it directly from Adorama Camera, no Sale Tax charge (at least for me to ship either to KY or TN)

FYI - the cpu performance is pretty bad on these due to HP's power limits. The xps 9370 will perform much better as Dell has upped the power limits and has decent cooling. I can sustain 3.4 ghz on all 4 cores with 8 threads of prime 95 running with an undervolt of 100MV. The same is true on a Lenovo T series. From the reviews, this thing will clock down to the low 2.2 GHZ range in a few seconds under load. Perhaps a re-paste and undervolt will help some but the power limit that HP imposed on these is pretty bad.

Why are here 90% newegg deals on Slickdeals in Computer category? Newegg is shit, they just got hacked, so they're insecure. Furthermore i can't pay with my debit cards. They are getting declined (i tried 3 different cards, on 4 different products). And yes there is money on all 3.

Nope. It lacks the cooling and extra power config that the 9370 has. The problem with the 8th gen U series is that performance will vary greatly depending on the power use set by the manufacturer of the laptop.
