**** you are paying only for the ability to close and check staus of door. Also it's $1 each for ifttt or google assistant. You can't tell google to open a door... crap implementation.

This is to prevent someone from opening your garage door by yelling from outside of your house.

I think there are work around without paying subscription fee.
I haven't gotten around to that point yet.

Probably not because it is only on sale at Home Depot and rest of the places it is still around $80.

It will still give door status without subscription. Subscription is only needed to use with other apps.

Also, it will be helpful if you can suggest an alternative that will do similar function without any subscription fee.

I am looking for something that will work my current Liftmaster and this was the only option.

I would really appreciate any recommendation for good alternatives.

I've been very happy with this setup, more features including temperature which is important to me. Great customer support too.

The info pitch on this is hilarious! It's like "now you can control when you can open and close it at your command?" Like one couldn't before...

How is that possible? I have attempted everything and it doesn't work.

I just checked, Harmony isn't even needed. It's just a custom smart app in smart things, and then linked with my Google Assistant

I do have the older liftmaster/myq hub though, so maybe things have changed. have you tried installing the myq device handler and app?
