Got this a while ago for full price and been happy with it mostly. Only thing I found is that the cradle wasn't making solid contact with the usb plug on the device so had to plug the dongle into pc directly. Biggest disappointment is that while my range and speed improved over my old dongle, my ping did not. But perhaps that's my router.

Correct, but i was hoping to give it more range. We are trying to get WiFi from our apartment building to our community area. An extender did not reach the area, so trying this
You would probably be better off using a wireless ethernet bridge or a wifi extender wired to the wireless access point via ethernet. Xbox OS updates happen too frequently to rely on a USB wifi adapter.

You usually can make wireless ethernet bridge from an older wireless router.

Just received mine today and I'm satisfied with the increase in speed and signal not dropping. For me 2.4GHz works fine but can't get 5GHz to work for some reason. Still worth the money.

I have an older but reliable Sandy Bridge i5 Win10 HTPC. It only has USB 2. I'm been having weird disconnecting issues recently in the built in Wifi (2.4 only).

Would USB 2.0 still be sufficiently fast enough to use with this Wifi adapter?

I have a PC that can barely pick up my neighbor's free WiFi. Can I buy this and plug it into one of my USB ports to boost my signal?

Can I use this in my LaView NVR usb slot instead of running Ethernet? The Ethernet for the cameras are already run, just not to NVR from modem.

I am currently using the Ourlink AC600 with the 5dbi antenna. It got 4.1 star rating out of 5 on Amazon (2,014 reviews) but I am hoping that with 2 antennas that my reception will greatly improve. For $16.90, it is worth a shot.

Hey "smart boy" its because when you have two adapters both using high power transmit powers you DO increase range. You need to get an education in wireless technology to understand this. Your post was an incoherent mess of misinformation.
So, now I need a router that can output 1 watt with 6dbi antennas? And if I want to use MIMO, I'm going to need to amplify all of my antennas? How am I saving money here?

Don't get angry at others for putting your logic to work against you when you can't even back it up.

However, after checking your post history and concluding that it's your "thing" to jump into threads and act like sandpaper between everyone's nether regions, I'm deciding to get off here and just report you.

It's even less if you do S&S and apply the coupon. Got it for $15.45.

Been looking at wifi adapters. My comp's Atheros card keeps dropping my connection. It always takes two reboots of my old Win 7 for the card to be recognized in device manager. Maybe this will help.
Can these be plugged into an Asus RT-AC68U router to receive wifi from my tethered LG smartphone? It works when plugged into USB on the router but then I can't move around well with my phone. Just wondering.
Thanks OP!

For anyone wondering if this is linux compatible, we have these on Fedora 28 servers with the rtl8812au drivers compiled. I also know one of the techs uses it on a ubuntu laptop for site surveys. Smilie
Thank you. Just what I've been looking for. Upgraded from my X220 (w/ whitelisted bios) to an X230. Couldnt believe how big of a pain the X230 is to mod.

EDIT: Promo expired.

Just got this wifi adapter in(bought during this deal) and it's working great. Previously, I was using a Linksys WUSB6300 usb wifi adapter which doesn't have external antennas and plugs directly into the usb port on my desktop. Due to wifi signal limitations at my desktop's locaton, i was only getting about 15mb/sec speeds. With the antennas and placement flexibility of the Brostrend I'm now seeing full speeds of just over 100mb/sec. It's actually comparable to my other pc which is using a wired connection.

So far so good.
