Best Buy has the 55" TCL 5 Series on sale for 399.99. It is an excellent TV for the specs. Has HDR10 + Dolby Vision, 4k Roku, wide color and extremely low input lag which is great for gaming. Its one step below the TCL 6 Series.

Alternatively, Amazon and Walmart have the 5 Series for 429.99 which include a wifi remote while the Best Buy version requires line of sight / IR.

This monitor may be unsuitable as a PC Monitor..

ONLY the 43 inch model does 1:1 mapping without the cross hatch pattern..

"Rting only tested the 43 inch model."

49 inch and above ALL HAVE the crosshatch pattern. not 1:1 mapping.

The bottom image supplied by Rting Confirms crosshatch pattern on the 49 inch and 55 inch Panels.

We don't have photos of the 65 inch , but it is almost 100% certain that it will be present.

This can not be turned off.

The Crosshatch pattern also extends to the TCL s4-series s5-series P6-series and R6-series from both THIS year and LAST year's

I have the 65" version (thisis the 55 though).... solid picture for the coin.... does allow some light bleed on the edges but that's the norm for a 65 and this price range..... Gotta love Walmart return policy....

Good catch. I don't think any Walmarts actually keep this set in stock but returns may be easier with walmart. The 5 Series doesn't have the vertical band / DSE issue the 6 Series does since it lacks local dimming, though TCL does have some quality control issues with light bleed on this set as someone else mentioned

Yes but so as long as there is a good return policy (i know its a hassle especially re-boxing bulky items) i think its worth the risk so as long as the price is right and they are willing to pick up the item via ups ect if one isnt happy with overall picture

Are these the ones with ads in the roku screen?

Also, both Walmart and Amazon say their model number is "55S517" while the Bestbuy one is listed as "55S515". What's the difference?

Thanks, looks like the best option for the set, updated the deal. Only difference between the Best Buy version vs Walmarts and Amazons is Best Buy has a cheaper remote that uses IR and the other version has a wifi remote. The tvs are identical otherwise.

Difference between the 5 and 6 Series is the 6 has full array local dimming for better black levels and gets a lot brighter than the 5 Series. The 5 still has a very good contrast ratio without local dimming, and as a result you dont have to worry about the banding / vertical bars issue the 6 has.

Really hoping this is 350 or less for Black Friday. Really wish the BBY Black Friday ad would leak.

How much better is the 6-series version of this set? I think local dimming zones might be the only difference?

There are several differences, probably the most noticeable one is the brightness. Especially for HDR.

I have a TCL 49S405 myself. It has HDR10 but it's so dark that I almost never use it.
