Just put one on hold. I don't know why because I already have a pair of Sound Blasterx H5 I picked up for cheap off massdrop. I guess it'll give me the opportunity to test them both and then make one my backup lol. I will report back my findings.

Edit: Just received my Sound BlasterX H5's today and have been able to do a side by side comparison between them and the RIG 500hx. The Sound BlasterX H5 is superior in essentially every way IMO. In short, the Sound BlasterX H5's are louder, produce more bass, more comfortable, and allow the replacement or the cord in case it goes bad. They are essentially identical to my HyperX Cloud II's in form and function except that the SBH5's don't come with the "Virtual 7.1 Surround" adapter. Further break down to follow.

RIG 500hx
Pros:
Light weight.
Inexpensive.
Perform admirably the price.
Frame is very flexible.
The "self adjusting headband" does hold it securely to your head.
Easy to wear for extended periods of time.
90* bend at connection is good for Xbox Controllers but bad for phones.

Cons:
Ear cups are smaller than the SBH5 so sometimes need to be moved around on your head for your ear to fit in.
Ear pads are cloth and a bit scratchy on your skin compared to the SBH5.
"Sound Isolating Ear Cups" is a joke, they don't isolate any outside noise with them on.
Each ear cup has a cord coming from them which means they can get tangled up or yanked down.
Lightweight materials make it feel cheap.
40mm driver is smaller than SBH5 and produces noticeably less bass.
Cords are not braided.

Sound BlasterX H5
Pros:
Inexpensive.
Perform very well for the price.
Large ear cups are easy to put on.
The ear pads are faux leather and are much more comfortable than the 500HX.
50mm drivers produce more bass than the 500HX.
Made of heavier materials and the weight makes it feel more sturdy.
Ear cups provide better isolation of outside noises than the 500HX
One cord comes from the left ear cup making it easier to put on and take off.
Microphone and Headset cord can be removed making replacing it possible in case it goes bad.
Cords are braided
Inline Volume/Mute control.

Cons:
The extra weight of the headset does seem to cause more strain on your head after extended use.
Inline Volume control means you could potentially raise or lower the volume on accident if it gets caught on your clothes.

I once went to the store to buy some game licensed mugs as they have them on sale "bought around 6 mugs that day". There was one that's packaged and the package did not have a photo of the mug, just the game title. There was no way I could tell how the mug looked like or even how big it was. I asked the clerk to open it up so I decide if I would take it. The mug box was a regular easy to open cardboard box. It was sealed with a single 3M tape, not the tamper resistant one, but a regular $0.50 per roll tape.

The clerk said "If I open it, you buy it", I asked what is the return policy and he was "no returns on opened mugs"!
Just to confirm, his opened mug policy is the removal of that office cheap 3M adhesive tape.

The whole idea of shopping in a B&M is the customer experience with the merchandise. Probably Amazon has a better online photo to illustrate that mug compared to the experience I had in the GameStop store.

I agree, GameStop does not provide any advantage over online shopping. I expect them to follow Sears and Toys R Us.

Buying it for a kid in community. What do you gamers think?

Is this good bang for the buck?

Plantronics in general makes very good headsets. These look kind of cool too. Good bang for your buck yes. Only thing they are really missing is some LED lighting to make them stand out for the real show off gamers.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I put one on hold and it was ready in a few minutes however don't think I will be able to pick one up today.

Do I need to hold it again after hours then?

Not to squash on this deal but I just bought a headset on Amazon by Runmus for $20 and they are pretty amazing. I bought 2. I could have bought 5 of these for the price of 1 Turtle Beach.

Naw no one really shops at gamestop anymore anyways, the deal is even available for shipping at that price so you should be ok.

Im actually surprised how Gamestop is even still functioning as a brick and mortar store while the worlds human population all drift slowly to becoming Amazon Androids( shoppers). I think I read somewhere that Gamestop is only still standing due to the holiday season like black Friday THRU Xmas , and the occasional nerd spot up mid night releasings of popular titles.

Cuz when u really think about it gamestop doesnt often have deals that you cant get with Amazon, and everyone and myself included are proud to admit were lazy and rather sit at home and wait at most 2 days thru Amazon prime free two day shipping or the fastest option of same day Delivery Nd even 2 hour Delivery on some items with Prime now service.

Yes ,I will be very surprised if in the next few years Gamestop hasn't transitioned into a fully pledged Online only retailer/Distributor. Cuz I personally find gamestop to be a huge RIP off in most cases, for example other day I had to get cash in a hurry so I literally bought spiderman new ps4 for 60 plus tax a few days prior to trading it in back to gamestop where I originally bought it , only to get 20 dollars cash for its trade value.

That's another HUGE reason why I like Amazon, return anything for any reason within 30 to 60 days no questions asked, gamestop if u want to take a game to trade in for cash expect to be offered what u would think a third world country would pay you for it.

Anyways that's my rant, to answer your original question you will be fine lol

I never tried the Runmus, but by examining the Amazon listing photo, I noticed it have one audio wire coming out of one driver instead of the two wires from both drivers in the Plantronics. This makes it easier to move the headset around and maneuver.
