Bought a 4-pack via Amazon (w/out batteries) maybe 3-4 months ago for 12 bucks w/ free shipping----if only want 2, this is a pretty good deal. Repped, OP.

Does anyone know if they "switch off" when closed ? I bought a pair from Costco, and even if "closed" they continued to stay lit, used batteries and completely drained out in a few days.

Anyone know how long those 6 AA batteries (say a high-grade Duracell or Energizer and not from Dollar tree stores) will last leaving it on?

The item claims that "it can light up to 12 hours with 3 AA batteries"

I would say that a good "Suvival Lantern" would have the ability to adjust the number of LEDs you are turning on in order to save energy, I don't believe this item allows for that.

They should. I have 4 from various manufacturers and they all switch off when the unit is slid all the way closed. Sounds like you may have received a defective one.

Probably nothing, these are probably all made by the same factory in China. The amount of leds/brightness are different on them and it regardless they're pretty bright enough.

$7.7 is a reasonable price, but not a low price, I see $13.33 for 2 pack. But price is not the most important if the quality is poor. After reading the reviews, some mentioned that one of the lamps doesn't work, need better quality control. Care for it.

One of the reviews show a picture of their light's battery compartment having 2 negative terminals for the same battery slot. I LOL'd so hard. It's like one of those "Fail" memes that you see.
